Before you settle down to watch a bunch of films in a row that are all intertwined, we’re here to tell you that there are movies in a franchise you can definitely skip. Film studios didn’t set out to make skippable movies in a franchise, but it certainly played out that way. There’s a few reasons why - although the truth is that most of these are simply the worst movie in a franchise, but that’s not the only reason.

The Incredible Hulk is actually the second movie in the Marvel cinematic universe. Coming out a few months after Iron Man, Edward Norton as The Hulk isn’t a bad film - it’s just completely unnecessary in the MCU - and not just because Norton is in it. The only character that has appeared in other MCU movies is Thunderbolt Ross - and his arc in Incredible Hulk doesn’t change anything in his later appearances. The setup for the next villain - The Leader - went nowhere and will likely leave you wondering what happened to him. Skip!

Upon its invention, the machete order of watching Star Wars is the go to method of watching the original six films. Starting with the first film Episode IV A New Hope (the original Star Wars), the viewer then watches Empire Strikes Back, and then does a time jump back to learn of Darth Vader’s origin as Anakin Skywalker. The catch is you skip Episode I The Phantom Menace and start with Episode II. Why? Besides the fact it isn’t very good and Jar Jar Binks, the actual story of The Phantom Menace is completely unnecessary to the rest of the series.
